It is a National Holiday and a day to honor those who have fought and died for our country and the freedoms it enshrines. We celebrate this holiday on the last Monday of May with memorial services, parades, fireworks, and the placing on flowers and flags graveside of our honored fallen. The largest events will be held in our national capitol Washington D.C. At 10am CDT there will be traditional ceremony of placing of the wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier at Arlington National Cemetery by the President of the United States.   Good Morning Everyone!  In America it is Memorial Day Weekend and the unofficial start of Summer (I will be doing a separate Memorial Day post on Monday). It is a time that friends and family get together, have barbecues, goes to the beach, and has outdoor fun. Nothing says Summer more than a cool glass of home made Lemonade something that takes me back to my childhood and makes me feel nostalgic. One of Summertime's mainstay that I look forward to is the radler or shandy a European tradition that has gained popularity in America. It is a combination of weiss beer and lemonade. A 37 year old man in Sydney Australia decided to treat his boredom by eating several magic mushrooms looking to get high and a little groovy.   Good Morning Everyone! There is an interesting little story out of Florida hitting the news feeds. Seems a 89 year old man managed to get himself killed and eaten along with his dog by a Black Bear. The man lived in Jerome,FL and unincorporated rural part of Collier Co. in southern Florida. Black bears are quite common in FL. For the most part they are not that big (this one was 260lbs) and are not that aggressive. I run across them every now and then. Usually making some loud noise like banging pots together is sufficient to run them off. If you live in an area where they are it is wise to keep your trash secure as they will come rummaging looking for a free meal. It is not known what let up to the altercation. The granddaughter observed the bear killing the man's dog outside the home and called the police for assistance. By the time they arrived the dog was dead and the man missing. His was found dragged off a 100 yards or so and looks like the bear used him as a Scoobie Snack....

For those who do not know what Cinco de Mayo is it an unofficial holiday in America that celebrates Battle of Puebla in 1862 where Mexican forces defeated those of Napolian III and the Second French Empire.
